Balancing US competitiveness, coveted summer vacation at heart of longer school year debate.

For those who claim the U.S. doesn't have a viable, publicly funded childcare system, I say, "But what about public schools?" Let's just call a horse a horse and then call it a day, folks.

According to this Washington Post nugget, the real stressor in modern parenting is that these darn schools have too many holidays and vacations.  How's a family ever going to earn a living if they have to be with their kids a whole third of the year?!
